-How I act-

Personality
Clueless is a rather hurtful thing to call some... but it fits like the dragon-scale boots that Godric wears everywhere. In truth he is not clueless in all areas of his character, but in most things that refer to society, he is usually ignorant of either how to handle them or that they are even taking place.
His work or passion is set high in the celestial firmament and therefore he is often what his wife calls 'Starry-Eyed'. Still, when things do break through his imaginary wall, he is as attentive as humanly possible. He cares very deeply for all creatures about him (when he remembers they are indeed there) from the smallest living plant to the often hated giants. Having good friendships with many a muggle, he does not view them any differently than he does the magical community and is a strong advocate that Muggle-borns should be given every magical right that 'pure-bloods' are given.
Quick to defend others, no matter of deed, Godric often acts before thinking but believes that such speed to assist is a better quality than self-preservation. He likes to work hard at everything he does; and encourages those around him to do the same, finding it shocking when some others fail to finish what they sought out. Encouragement personified, he would throw himself in the deepest pit to lift a single person's spirits.
Yet again, he believed that each person is in charge of his own destiny and that courage and strength of heart will rescue any who truly depend upon such virtues.

Around Family
His daughter may worship the ground he walks on, but his wife all but loathes him. Now strictly speaking, this is not truly Godric's fault; as he heaped affection on her from the moment of their meeting. Despite her dislike of him, he still sends her letters on a weekly basis and each of their anniversaries is remembered with a hundred singing roses showing up next to her pillow. Still, he is not idiotic and always calls her before returning to his home. His daughter lives with him and therefore he rarely returns home from Hogwarts.
The little girl, who he affectionately calls Baby, already loved the stars from her first walking steps and therefore both father and daughter have little to disagree with. He delights in pointing out the wonders of his passion and she falls asleep with his soothing voice lulling her. Neither one really place much care in how little Raine liked Godric, since one has never really realized it and the other is too young.
Godric is very close with his siblings, especially Cesan as they are only ten months apart in age. Three times a year the four of them get together to go mushroom hunting by the old home and nothing is more looked forward to on the wizard's mind than that outing. With Cesan's declining health, Zopy, Godric has taken it upon himself to assist in his upbringing as his brother's wife died in childbirth.
With the death of his mother, Godric became closer to his father, who had always been a rather quiet man and they now correspond on a biweekly basis.

Around Enemies
Godric is not one to set people in categories marked friends or enemies... therefore when anyone is thought of in such a light as the latter, he does his best to amend their relationship. If beyond salvaging, he tries various tactics that usually fail due to his bold manner but lack of understanding the true problem.

Usual Mood around strangers:
All people are friends when Godric meets them as he is friendly and as kind as kind could be. Still he is rather easily distracted by work he always has somewhere calling his name... therefore anyone meeting him might have to content themselves with sharing his attention with the latest of his star charts.

-History-

Your Story Please?
Born the oldest of what became a family with four children, Godric was surrounded with love and understanding from his first breath. His father was a man without true occupation, contenting himself to dream his days away tucked into the books he loved so. The vast inheritance passed to the family at Baodan Gryffindor's death allowed for such leisure. Still from an early age, Godric and his younger siblings were taught that nothing was of any worth unless given time or energy. Cesan was born ten months after Godric's own birth, and they grew up as close as any two brothers could. Eochaidh entered the world two years later, his quick temper not endearing him to his older brothers as quickly. And Olympia graced the Gryffindor Cottage three years after Eochaidh. Of the four siblings, she was the most loved by them all as she was delicate in health.

Allowed to play with the muggle children that lived near them, Godric and his brothers thought it strange that others would ever think of muggles as less than the magical people. At the early age of six, he went to his mother and asked for permission to make a crude broom. She discussed it with his father and they consented to the instrument.
Though the day after he finished it, Godric broke both arms and his tailbone, the young wizard developed a deep love of flying. It was also that same year that he saw his first shooting star, although his mother laughed and told him it was just the spell work of his Uncle Love. Still, he began to wonder about the stars and the planets above in the night sky and the history behind them.
A bit of late bloomer, he did not show any true magical ability until the age of eight, when he caught Eochaidh who fell from a tree. The levitation delighted his parents and his magical education was soon seen to by a private tutor combined with his mother's loving attention.
In between his education, Godric spent his time swimming in the loch behind the family cottage and began to draw the scenes he saw within his family and friends.

When he turned ten, the young wizard left his home to live with his uncle, who was a proud observer of the heavens. From him he learnt a great deal about both astronomy and about people, as his uncle enjoyed nothing more than stars save ripping people apart.
Homesickness returned him to the Cottage and he swore never again to leave as the joy of being with his siblings and parents far outweighed his thirst for knowledge. Only days before his eleventh birthday, his mother became ill, the cause unknown. Within three days, the vibrant witch faded until a grey-faced Cairbre was forced to tell his silent children that they had lost their mother.
Her funeral was a day that Godric was certain would be the last that the sun would ever see. But when the next morning it rose to greet him again, he brought his younger siblings together and encouraged them to continue to live well as their mother would have wanted.
Over the next five years, Godric helped his father recover from the shock and depression of losing his wife, keeping the desired bottle from him and reminding him day and night that life had to continue. Those years were not without further tragedy as young Olympia, at the time barely ten, lost her vision to a fever and thus whatever suitors she would have had faded away.

At sixteen, he met Raine Odonal who was two years his senior and promptly fell in love. Although she was not seen as a witch of high status, being the daughter of a squib and muggle, he could not have cared less and from his first letter to her, he made it very clear that he planned to someday marry her.
He studied the fine art of dueling along with his brothers, his magical ability far more keen than either of his brothers resulting in him being forced to find others to compete with. It was during such a duel with a prominent wizard that Godric won the hand of the fair Raine. She was far too infatuated to realize that it was not true love that led to the marriage three months later.

Married at the early age of 18, Godric moved with his blushing bride to a little cottage not far from the original Gryffindor cottage. The first year of their marriage was heavenly, with their mutual love far too bright for either to see the other faults... but as time progressed the reality of life set in as Godric laboured away with his astronomy writings and glued his eyes to the stars, his wife began to feel slighted and sought the favour of another gentleman. After becoming pregnant with said gentleman's child, Raine seduced Godric to make him think the child was his and then carefully allowed for a miscarriage. She knew the baby would be born at the wrong time for it to be her time-calculating husband's and the chance of his ever finding out was too great. The loss of honour for her family far outweighed the innocent life.

Crushed by the loss of 'his' child, Godric buried himself deeper into his research and thoroughly abandoned his already slighted wife. As he became more immersed in his hobby, Raine became more adept at her: the fine art of collecting lovers.
Two years into their marriage, neither of them even slept in the same house and yet Godric was completely oblivious to the marital disaster. Yet of other things, he was well attuned, gaining the desire to share his gained knowledge with those about him. Despite his young age, he sought out ways to become a teacher and soon began to tutor muggle-born wizards and witches. His wife, despite her own parents being a squib and muggle, hated his time given to teaching and told him so at her every opportunity.

Cesan's young wife, Dora died giving birth to his son and it was with great sadness that Godric went to help the young widower. His brother himself became ill and for many years the illness plagued him.
A year later, Olympia became engaged to a Cosgrach McTavisk, a prominent Scottish lord with both wealth and position. He was not of the magical blood, but both Godric and Cairbre approved of him due to his kind way. Yet a month into their marriage, Olympia was caught lighting a fire with magic by Cosgrach's brother, Aaron and the resulting attack on her person ended in tragedy. In an attempt to defend his beloved bride, Lord McTavisk stepped between them. Saying that his brother had become wicked by marrying a witch, Aaron fought with him and by a moment of greater strength, he knocked him down and killed him. Olympia was chased into the forest soon after and unable to see where she went was easily subdued.
Her Patronus alerted Godric who immediately rushed to her assistance. To his horror, his delicate sister had been savagely harmed and in his rage, Godric avenged her, killing Aaron. Knowing that no law would go against him, the wizard reported the death and all surrounding it and was cleared of wrong. He took his broken sister back to their father and in her pain and grief she lost the son she would have given Cosgrach.

Two years later, little Baby came into the world, after Raine came to him, drunk and in all ways wanting comfort. He had no desire to take advantage of her... but between her insistence and the apologies issuing from her drunken lips what happened, happened.
Only a few months after Baby's birth, his wife again left him. Godric therefore carefully divided his time between his research and the care of the wide-eyed infant. It did not always work perfectly as he became engrossed with a certain star pattern and only the squalls of his daughter or the shouts of his annoyed neighbours tore him from it. Nevertheless, Baby grew healthy and strong, none the worse for wear despite the 'negligence'.

Nearly four years later, Godric joined three others, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin, with the ambition to create a Magical school. He gave a great deal of time and effort to helping establish the unique institution, delighting in the design of the beautiful high towers. At its completion he happily took the position as Astronomy professor with Baby as his 'assistant'.

What mystery lay beyond the celestial dots that so many below ignored or contented themselves to merely see as heavenly lights. Godric Gryffindor wrote these words with one eye against the desk, an odd habit of his, and the other firmly planted against the telescope. He was currently swimming through Saturn's rings, even while his quill messily dragged ink across the scroll. He had begun to write that morning and so far had done less writing than most first years with writer's cramp. Two sentences graced the page and only three of those words were legible. Of those three none made much sense without the others.
"Papi." He lifted his head up, unaware of the ink staining his bearded cheek and glanced under his lifted arm. His daughter waved at him, her head dangling upside down from the ladder hole she lay at. "Papi, you promised to go flying." She giggled, her tumbling red hair falling to frame an elfin face.
It was an odd sight, his face peering up at her from under his arm and her face glancing down at him from the ladder hole... but it was the most common for them and therefore worked.
"I am occupied, little one." He murmured, his head returning to its normal position and cracking loudly.
"You are always occupied." The little imp descended the ladder and ran to his side, climbing into his lap and accidentally smudging her hand across the scroll's page. The three legible words no longer were such. "Come, fly with me and then return."
She cupped his face with her dainty hands and set her forehead against him.
"Please."
Godric rose to his feet, moving his daughter up to his shoulder as he did so. She squealed in delight as he carried her up the ladder and out into the main tower. From the top of the Astronomy tower of Hogwarts the world seems so simple and small, laid out at their feet. Summoning his broom, Godric settled his giggling daughter in front of him and they soared out into the clouds.
"Faster, Papi!" Baby begged. Had his arm not been around her, keeping her against him, she would have leant off the broom.
"No, smidgen."
The broom beneath them was not the same instrument that Godric had crashed in his youth, but it held the same basic design only with a strap mounted on the side for Baby when she occasionally rode by herself and under his sharp eye. Brooms had yet to become popular with the magical community as only a few years earlier a collection of Swedish wizards had developed them. But, he enjoyed being a step ahead of the rest of the world and only laughed when his wife assured him he would break his neck one day.
Another thirty minutes were added to their flight and then he returned them to the tower, settling down with a soft plop. Dusting off his thick black and crimson robes, Godric summoned the broom's case and soon had it well put away.
"Does it have life?" Baby asked, innocently wondering aloud.
"Ah, yes. But not of the sort that would give it intelligence. All things hold life, smidgen."
"Even Cos?" She held up her pine-cone, neatly dressed in the gown fashioned for it.
Godric chuckled, kneeling in front of her.
"Yes, even Cos. Now come, you require cleaning." She shrieked in joy as he carried her down the ladder and back down into the actual castle.
There was enough dirt on the child for the attempt at radishes although her father had no idea where said soil had come from. A quick charm took care of the situation and he muttered a grateful praise that he did not have to resort to the muggle means of scrubbing.
"May I go to school?" Baby sat on his feet to gain his attention, bright orbs intently set on him.
"Yes, of course." he nodded, shuffling forward as one of those flightless birds in colder regions of the world. She grabbed his legs and giggled along the ride. "But not this one yet, sparrow."
"And why not?" As his left foot went numb, Godric swung her up onto his shoulders, trying not to grimace as she tugged on his hair.
"Because because because." Baby's laugh echoed through the hall as he tickled her. "You are yet too young."
A yank on his hair followed his statement.
"I am nearly five." she pouted.
"Honestly?" Godric feigned shock. "I thought your next birthday would make you at least forty." She laughed, bouncing on his shoulders.
"Oh Papi. You are not yet forty." Her fingers moved to cover his eyes and he nearly walked into the suits of armour that one of his fellow professors had thought added a touch of style to the hall.

Name: Raine Eloise Gryffindor
[Nickname:] Baby... is rarely called by her real name
Age: 4
Gender: Female
Profession: Junior Astronomy Assistant

Theme Song: Fireflies by Owl City
Favourite Colour: Plum

Discription
A spritely redhead with big green eyes and small build. She usually wears red or green robes with her hair in a wild tangle around her face.

Picture: See Godric's profile

Personality:
Sensitive and shy, Baby does not quickly trust people, preferring to run and hide behind her father whenever meeting someone new. However, when anyone does take the time to capture her friendship, Baby is easily amused and loves nothing more than cuddling into a comforting lap with the promise of reading. She is learning how to read herself, but so far can only pick out a few words, which she proudly points out to anyone reading. As the daughter of a rather distracted professor, Baby has no qualms about screaming for what she wants and if ignored she will rectify said situation with a swift kick to the shins.
She loves both of her parents, but definitely loves her father more, since her mother is rarely seen.

Items:
Her pine-cone doll, Cos
A tangled bunch of ribbons
Half of a broken broom (she uses it to pretend to fly)
Her assistant wand... which is just a charmed quill

History: See Godric's History above
